Congratulations to the 2025 Cariño Home Visitor of the Year, Estreya Orozco!

Please join us in congratulating Estreya Orozco on being selected as the 2025 Cariño Family Health Home Visitor of the Year!

Estreya began her professional journey with Cariño in July of 2023. As a local to the Mesilla Valley, Estreya was born in Las Cruces but was raised in Chaparral, NM. In 2019, she received her bachelor’s in social work with a minor in Child Advocacy. With a passion to help others and have a positive impact on those she serves, Estreya became a Case Worker for Unaccompanied Children in 2021. During this time, her role was to reunify children ages 13 to 17 with their families and sponsors.

Now, as a home visitor, she is grateful to be able to share her knowledge and help clients reach their individual and family goals. What has impacted her most in her professional journey as a home visitor has been the opportunity to see growth and positive outcomes with children’s development, parent and child interactions, and the overall well-being of the families. “The families that I have the honor to serve all come from different backgrounds, experiences, and cultures. Each family has opened their home to have a better understanding and support for their children. Being able to provide knowledge, guidance, and compassion is what truly empowers families to do what’s best for themselves and their children,” Estreya shared.

Being recognized as the 2025 Cariño Home Visitor of the Year was incredibly meaningful for Estreya. “It is a remarkable achievement in my career because it is a reminder to myself that anything you do with passion, kindness, and respect carries a significant value to the person you are,” she said. She also credits the Cariño team for their support. “I feel honored and grateful for being part of the Cariño Family Health team and for the amazing support of my directors, Cristin, Inez, and my supervisor, Priscila.”

The Home Visitor of the Year Award was created by the Cariño Family Health leadership team as a formal way to recognize outstanding performance and dedication within the home visiting teams. As Cariño’s programs continue to grow, the award provides an opportunity to intentionally highlight excellence, celebrate staff who go above and beyond, and reinforce the values and standards that define high-quality home visiting. The annual award reflects the home visitor who demonstrates the highest overall performance across multiple areas, including strong audit results, accurate and timely documentation, minimal reporting errors, visit completion, and consistently meeting or exceeding visit goals. The award will be given annually as part of Cariño’s ongoing commitment to recognizing excellence, supporting staff morale, and celebrating the meaningful work home visitors do every day to support children and families in our communities.

Cariño Family Health Director, Cristin Weldon, shared, “Beyond metrics, the Home Visitor of the Year is someone who truly embodies the values of Aprendamos and Cariño, showing excellence, compassion, professionalism, and a willingness to go above and beyond. This includes being a role model to peers, volunteering for events, supporting team efforts, maintaining strong family engagement, and consistently serving families with warmth, integrity, and commitment.” Cristin also expanded on the traits that make Estreya such an exceptional home visitor. “Estrella truly embodies what it means to be a Parents as Teachers home visitor. She is exceptionally compassionate, warm, and easy to talk to, which allows her to build strong, trusting relationships with families. Her performance is outstanding, and she consistently delivers high-quality visits while maintaining excellence in documentation and program requirements. Estrella’s dedication and heart for families are evident in everything she does.”

Thanks for all you do to put families first, Estreya! Once again, congratulations on being named the 2025 Cariño Home Visitor of the Year.
