On April 11, 2026, Erin O’Donnell, Director of Outreach and Marketing for Aprendamos Family of Services, will be Rocking the Runway for a Cause in support of Hearts for Autism. The inaugural event will help raise funds for the organization to help create inclusive opportunities for children with autism to connect, learn, and thrive alongside their peers.
For Erin, being part of Rock The Runway for a Cause allows her to contribute to creating positive change in our community. “It’s about using my role here at Aprendamos Family of Services to help children with autism attend summer camp, feel accepted, and experience the growth that comes from being in a supportive environment,” she shared.
The Hearts for Autism Camp New Amigos program is an inclusive camp that provides children with autism structured activities, social connection, and a supportive camp experience. Erin believes it is important to do whatever it takes to help the camp expand its reach and serve more children. “Camp New Amigos provides an experience that helps children build confidence, connection, and joy. The work is essential to our community, providing families with support and creating opportunities where children feel included, empowered, and celebrated,” she said.
As part of the inaugural group of over 25 community models participating in the fundraiser, Erin joins other local leaders who are committed to providing meaningful experiences and resources for children with autism in Southern New Mexico. “This event and collaboration is important because it brings our community together to raise awareness of an organization that is changing lives. When individuals come together for a cause like this, it creates visibility, connection, and real opportunity for children with autism and their families,” Erin said.
