Please join us in welcoming Alex Garibay, RN, BSN, to the Cariño Family Health team! In her role, Alex will serve as a Registered Nurse for Cariño’s Nurse Family Partnership Program.
As a local Las Cruces native, Alex attended NMSU and graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2017. Shortly after, she began her nursing career in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Memorial Medical Center, then went to work for an OB/GYN clinic at La Clinica de Familia Women’s Health. She also has experience in Preoperative and Postoperative nursing, infusion therapy, and home visiting care, and before joining Aprendamos, served as a school nurse with Las Cruces Public Schools for over 2 years.
In her new role, Alex is most eager to work with first time moms by providing education and resources to help them have the best possible outcomes towards healthier pregnancies and healthier babies. “I’m excited to be a part of their journey from pregnancy to when their child turns 2 years old, and to see their growth while they overcome challenges and accomplish their goals. I was drawn to the Aprendamos/Cariño team because of its strong commitment to supporting families, and I value being part of a team that strengthens families within our community,” Alex shared.
Alex is looking forward to being a part of making a meaningful difference for the families served by the Cariño Family Health program and providing education, support, and guidance for families. “Our services make an impact and help children and families succeed and thrive. Over time, we can see stronger bonds within the families that lead to a more nurturing home and environment, which can then lead to healthier development for the children,” she said. She also looks forward to building connections and relationships with families to help them reach their goals. “It’s rewarding to see growth and positive changes within a family and it’s an incredible feeling to be a part of that.”
Cariño Family Health Home Visiting Director, Cristin Weldon, shared, “Alex brings a rare blend of compassion, clinical excellence, and genuine heart to her work- she is an incredible asset to our team and the families we serve.”
In Alex’s spare time, she enjoys reading and spending time at home with her husband and their dogs. She also believes in taking time to relax and recharge, which helps her stay effective and engaged when she’s working with clients and families.
Welcome to the Cariño team, Alex, and thank you for all you do to put families first!
