Welcome, Cristin!

The Aprendamos Family of Services organization is thrilled to welcome Cristin Weldon as the Director for the Cariño Family Health & Wellness Programs! Cristin brings a strong blend of clinical expertise and leadership experience to the Cariño team. Originally from El Paso, Texas, Cristin completed her education at New Mexico State University and Purdue Global to earn degrees in Nursing as well as a national board certification in Case Management. As a registered nurse with a background in adult oncology, case management, and home visiting, she possesses a deep understanding of both complex medical needs and the real-world challenges families in Southern New Mexico face. Additionally, Cristin’s experience with Medicaid and managed care organizations helps her to navigate systems effectively to advocate for the best outcomes.

When we asked Cristin what excites her most about her new role and what specific goals she is passionate about pursuing, she shared how energized she is by the opportunity to lead alongside a team that’s passionate, mission-driven, and deeply committed to the families they serve. “I’m especially passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable populations and advancing health equity in our region”, she said. “I believe that every family deserves access to high-quality, culturally responsive care, and I’m committed to ensuring that the programs we offer are not only trusted, but truly excellent. Whether it’s strengthening systems of support, expanding access, or improving how we deliver services, my goal is to build something sustainable that families can count on.”

In her short time with the AFS organization, Cristin has already been a trailblazer in helping to expand the Cariño Family Health & Wellness Programs to provide even more life-changing resources to children and families in Southern New Mexico. “Helping bring the Nurse-Family Partnership to Southern New Mexico has been a proud achievement. It represents not just the launch of a program, but a collective belief in what’s possible when we align vision, values, and action. More than anything, I’m grateful to be doing this work together, alongside leaders, who are as committed to excellence as they are to equity.”

When she isn’t leading the Cariño team, Cristin can be found spending time with her family and enjoying the great outdoors. Whether she is walking, jogging, gardening, or even mowing the lawn, her time spent outside is a source of joy, rejuvenation, and inspiration.

Cristin shared, “I am grateful to be on this journey with such a dedicated and mission-driven team. This work isn’t always easy, but knowing I get to do it alongside people who lead with both heart and purpose makes all the difference. I’m excited for what’s ahead, and I look forward to continuing to grow, learn, and build something meaningful together.”

Thank you, Cristin, for your dedication and commitment to shaping the future in our region and making a meaningful difference for the children and families we serve! Welcome to the Aprendamos team.
