Program Spotlight: Cariño Home Visiting Program

 In Impact Stories

Cariño Home Visiting, an Aprendamos Family of Services program, is committed to ensuring southern New Mexico families have the support and resources to raise happy, healthy, successful children. During these home visits, our team provides tools to help families achieve maternal, infant, and early childhood health, safety, development, and strong parent-child relationships.

The Cariño Home Visiting program serves expectant parents by providing prenatal resources and serves families with children ages birth to five years old and their caregivers. There are no income criteria and all visits are complimentary for our families. Our Cariño team helps connect families to resources like prenatal education, parenting and child development education, lending libraries, breastfeeding education, car seat and home safety, and more. Families in Doña Ana, Otero, and Sierra Counties can qualify for our services.

When we asked Ruby Sambrano, Cariño’s Home Visiting Program Manager, how home visiting can impact families, she said, “It’s such a great feeling to be able to help families with their safety and well-being. From working with families when they are expecting, to helping them transition their children to kindergarten, connecting them with resources that make a difference, and helping them provide a safe environment for their family is what home visiting is all about.”
