A Full Circle: Emili Esparza’s Journey with Aprendamos

Emili Esparza never imagined that a childhood memory would one day become the foundation of her life’s purpose. At just three years old, Emili was enrolled in speech therapy, a service that was offered by the Aprendamos Early Intervention program. Although she doesn’t recall every detail, this one memory has always stayed with her—a kind woman in her playroom, gently guiding her while her while her mother watched nearby. That simple, tender moment became a core memory, one that would unknowingly set the course for her future.

Today, Emili is stepping confidently into adulthood, entering her junior year of college at New Mexico State University as a Psychology major with a minor in Communication Studies. At the same time, she’s giving back to the very community that once helped shape her. In May, Emili began her role as a Behavior Technician at Aprendamos, closing a 17-year loop in the most meaningful way.

“I’ve come full circle,” she says. “What once felt like a distant memory has now become my daily reality. Being able to serve the children and families in my community has been both bittersweet and incredibly rewarding.”

The journey has left a lasting impression on Emili—not just professionally, but personally. The care and dedication she received as a child helped her overcome a speech impediment, allowing her not only to speak clearly but also to embrace the gift of bilingualism. It’s a transformation she now witnesses in others every day: the smiles, the breakthroughs, the joy of progress.

“There’s something incredibly powerful about seeing children reach milestones,” Emili shares. “It reminds me of how much support can impact someone’s life. And now, I get to be part of that impact.”

She credits the entire Mariposa Autism Service Center program and team for making her transition into this role so special. From Human Resources to her direct coworkers, Emili describes the environment as one filled with encouragement, warmth, and genuine inspiration. “Every person I’ve met has made a lasting impression. Their integrity, compassion, and support make me proud to be part of this team.”

Looking ahead, Emili sees Aprendamos continuing to grow by staying true to its core values—serving with integrity, empathy, and a passion for helping others. It’s this culture of care that excites her most about her future at Aprendamos.

“Working here isn’t just a job,” she says. “It’s a calling. I get to live out my dream while giving back to a place that once gave so much to me.”

Emili hopes her story can serve as an inspiration of hope for families in the community. “It’s an honor to be part of this organization. I want others to know that reaching out for support can truly change lives—just like it changed mine.”
