Supporting Southern New Mexico children, individuals, and families for over 20 years

Krystal Chavarria-Gonzalez named Community Liaison and Early Intervention Consultant at Aprendamos.

Congratulations, Krystal!

We’re excited to celebrate a major milestone for one of our most dedicated team members: Krystal Chavarria-Gonzalez has officially stepped into her new dual role as Community Liaison and Early Intervention Consultant for Aprendamos Family of Services! This promotion is not only a reflection of Krystal’s incredible work ethic and 19 years of service, it’s a celebration of her passion, purpose, and deep commitment to children and families across southern New Mexico.

A Career Defined by Growth and Heart

Krystal began her journey with Aprendamos in 2006 while still a senior at Onate High School (now Organ Mountain High School). Starting as a part-time file clerk, she quickly found her passion in early childhood development. Inspired by the work she observed every day, she earned her 45-hour early childhood certification and started working directly with infants and toddlers under supervision.

Since then, Krystal’s career has grown alongside Aprendamos. She has served in nearly every corner of our Early Intervention program: Family Service Coordinator, Developmental Specialist, Lead FSC, Child Care Liaison, Community Education Coordinator, Evaluator, and most recently, Program Director for Early Intervention Services. She also launched our Early Intervention Internship Program, connecting future professionals from NMSU, WNMU, UNM, and ENMU with real-world learning experiences.

What She’s Excited to Bring to Her New Role

Now, in her new role, Krystal is looking forward to strengthening relationships with community partners, pediatricians, and childcare providers throughout Doña Ana and Sierra counties. She is passionate about making sure these partners fully understand the enrollment processes for all six Aprendamos programs and feel confident guiding families to the support they need.

“The most exciting part of my new role is continuing relationships with our community partners,” Krystal shared. “I want to meet new providers and ensure they feel supported—with the right resources and connections to better serve our families.”

She plans to regularly host Lunch & Learns, professional development days, and monthly visits with community partners to make sure they have access to materials like brochures, developmental charts, and referral tools. Her goal is to create an open, collaborative network that allows families to connect to services with confidence and ease.

A Leader Who Leads with Impact

Krystal’s leadership goes beyond outreach. As a participant in the CREATE EC Leadership Academy, she co-authored a published article in the Zero to Three Journal and played a key role in establishing the first Wellness Hub in Chaparral, NM. This space was designed to give early childhood professionals in rural areas a place to rest, recharge, and access ongoing professional development—an initiative that reflects Krystal’s deep belief in supporting those who support others.

She also remains active with the Dona Ana Early Childhood Coalition, the Gadsden Chapter Leadership Team, and serves on both the Built on Values and Professional Development Teams at Aprendamos. Since 2020, she has also served on the board of the Children’s Reading Alliance, championing literacy and early learning.

A Personal Life That Reflects Her Values

Krystal lives in Chamberino, New Mexico, with her husband Valente, their two-year-old daughter Avelina Andrea, and a lively bunch of pets including two pugs, goats, chickens, bunnies, and more. She finds joy in family time, arts and crafts on the porch, canal walks, and attending FFA events at Gadsden High School where her husband is the advisor. Her personal and professional life reflect the same values—family, community, and the power of connection.

Join Us in Celebrating This New Chapter

Krystal’s new role is a natural continuation of her commitment to early childhood education, family services, and community partnerships in southern New Mexico. We are beyond proud to have her lead this work with so much heart and experience.

Congratulations, Krystal, on your well-deserved promotion! Your leadership is helping us build brighter futures for families and we can’t wait to see all the meaningful connections you’ll create in this next chapter.
